Outisight Designs was started in late 1974 by Frank Pretzman and Chris Burlew of Southern California. These two decided to get into the 1/24 Group 7 Body business after Associated went in to RC and Mac was sold. Frank owned a raceway at the time and Chris was an accomplished body painter and racer of the time. Chris and others designed the molds and Chris did most of the production of the bodies. Pro Group 7 bodies and 1/32 bodies for Womps and Thumpers were very successful in the beginnings of Outisight. In 1977, Outisight purchased the Lucas Body Company and offered the Lucas designs. Outisight bodies were being used by the Top Drivers in the U.S. and around the World.
Frank Correia purchased Outisight from Pretzman in the late seventies. Outisight bodies became the choice of the Racers winning at all National and World events. No other MFG offered as many Winning Designs as Outisight. Outisight bodies dominated the 1980 Worlds with Paul Pfeiffer winning with the new Outisight Ferrari Pro Body while the rest in the Pro Main used the Outisight 01 body. A few short months later at the 1980 USRA Nats, all 7 out of 8 drivers in the main used the new Ferrari Pro Body with Pfeiffer winning again. Outisight bodies won in every class at the 1980 Nats and Worlds. The Outisight Ferrari Pro Body continued to dominate the early 80's with the Top Drivers and Teams using them.
During the mid 80's, other MFG's started producing their own bodies with some success, but it was Outisight still dominating the majority of races and setting World Records. Outisight was known for Winning Designs and Quality Bodies. Outisight also produced bodies for some of the other MFG's.
In 1987 came the release of the Outsight Corvette Pro Body and immediately was a success. More of the Top Drivers started using this body to win countless Regional and National USRA races. It proved to be the choice of Champions. The Corvette is still winning races today.
In 1991, Outisight again led the revolution of "Winged" Group 10 bodies. Outisight was winning not only the majority of Pro races, but now winning in raceways everywhere with their new Group 10 body line. During the 90's, Outisight kept their winning streak alive by winning at every Nats since 1975 as well as countless races around the World. In 1995 came the release of the O/S Viper body and the Viper continues to dominate in Box Stock, Int 15 and C-12 classes.
In 1998, Frank Correia decided to sell Outisight Designs to Ron Hershman of Fast Ones fame. Outisight still continued to win and dominate races everywhere. Outisight Designs was headed into a new direction getting into the Scale Racing market. These New Designs were successful right from the start and the other MFG's took notice.
The Outisight GTP bodies were winning race after race and in 1999, the Outisight 333 body won at the ISRA Worlds the first time out ending years of domination by Foreign Body MFG's. In 2000 came the release of the Cadillac and Mercedes for GTP racing and have won more National USRA Euro-Sport Championships in 1/24 and 1/32 classes than the others combined. Outisight Stock Car bodies were also starting to make their mark in 2002 winning at the USSCA Nats and dominating the USSCA Oval Nats in 2002, 2003, 2004. Outisight GT-1/LMP bodies were also winning at USSCA and ISRA Nationals. The O/S 333 GT-1 body won in it's first outing at the 2004 USRA Nationals. The release of the 2005 Outisight Dodge Charger is already writing a new chapter in the O/Sistory Book.
While Outisight History unfolds in the
future, Outisight will be hard at work to continue their Winning
Performance and producing Quality Winning bodies.
